TIMINGS
This course runs from 09:30 to 16.30 on all days, but may run later depending upon conditions. 2 Days of Seamanship Skills pkus 3 days of Instructor Training.
PRE-REQUISITES
You should have passed at least one of the Advanced Modules from the National Sailing Scheme before attending this course and be recommended by one of the senior
TEACHING
The Assistant Instructor is trained to assist qualified instructors to teach beginners up to the standard of the National Sailing Scheme Level 2 and the Youth Sailing Scheme Stage 3.
The award is specific to the centre where the training is delivered.
The course covers the centre's safe operating procedures and the role of an Assistant Instructor at Plas Menai. Training will be based around the centre's fleet of training boats.
Successful candidates will be awarded the Assistant Instructor certificate and will be welcome to assist with the Dragons and other appropriate events at Plas Menai in order to gain experience before potentially moving on to the Dinghy Instructor award.
Parents/guardians do not have to remain on site during the session.
Plas Menai will provide all necessary personal protective clothing including wetsuits, waterproofs, buoyancy aids and helmets.
Please bring with you:
- Swimming togs & towel
- Footwear for on the water
- Sock that cover your ankles
- 50p for locker
Please bring a waterproof jacket, warm clothes and a hat if it's cold; if it's warm you will need sun screen, sunglasses, a hat and cool clothing.
