16 Week Trainee Instructor Programme
The 2024 Summer 16 week Outdoor Instructor Training course start date is Monday 19th August.
We will welcome you to the centre to begin 16 weeks of intensive, professional outdoor instructor training programme including the key internationally recognised qualifications employers within the watersports sector are looking for, opening global work opportunities.
This training programme does not require candidates to hold any pre-qualifications, this is ideal for a school or college leaver or if you fancy a complete career change.
During your time at the centre you will develop your own personal outdoor skills, in readiness for undertaking your instructor qualifications, as well as developing your teaching and group management skills which are necessary in becoming an effective instructor.
The programme includes ALL of the industry sought after qualifications along with all necessary personal protective clothing, equipment and tuition.
During the 16 week programme you will obtain the following qualifications:
-RYA Powerboat Level 2
-RYA First Aid
-VHF Marine Radio
-RYA Day Skipper Theory
20 Week Trainee Instructor Programme
We will also be running a 20 week outdoor instructor training programme which starts on 29th July.
In addition to the 16 week programme the four extra weeks will include the following qualifications:
-RYA Competent Crew
-RYA Day Skipper Practical
-RYA Powerboat Instructor (Depending on previous experience)
-RYA Multihull/Racing instructor (Depending on previous experience)
Facilities
Accommodation to all candidates is allocated within our on site shared houses with easy access to all the centres facilities, kit storage and car parking.
Full board is included in your course fee with nutritious and healthy meals served.
Free Internet access and resource material.
Kit and equipment; We have one of the largest ranges of top quality outdoor equipment available for use anywhere in the UK, and availability to a range of high quality kit (Please note kit does not include shoes)

Plas Menai is a large residential, purpose built outdoor centre, set in four acres of grounds on the edge of the Menai Strait, our waterfront location is also a stone throw away from the renowned Snowdonia National Park, meaning we can offer students an unrivalled diversity of training locations and conditions, equipping students not only with qualifications but hands on experience of a range of challenging environments.

Cost
The full board 16 week residential outdoor instructor training programme course fee is £6662.50. The 20 week programme is £9162.50. Please note that the course fees will have VAT charged at the normal rate.
