Learn to sail over 2 days with an introduction to dinghy sailing. This 2 day course will be spent predominantly in double handed dinghies but you may have the opportunity to try out a single handed dinghy depending upon the overall ability of the group and the prevailing weather conditions.

 
Over the two days we aim to cover the following;
 
RYA Start Sailing (Level 1): This course introduces you to the fundamentals of sailing, including sailing up, down and across the wind, turning the boat and what to do in the event of a capsize.

The 2 days will begin with an instructor sailing in the boat with you, but it is hoped by the end of the 2 days you will be sailing on your own, with the instructor overseeing your development from a powerboat.
 
Key learning points:

Rigging, launching, landing, sailing in all directions, capsize recovery, safety information and basic sailing theory.
 

Our friendly instructors will be with you every step of the way, offering clear instruction, guidance and encouragement.

Plas Menai will provide all necessary personal protective clothing including wetsuits, waterproofs, buoyancy aids and helmets.
 
Please bring with you;

• Swimming togs & towel
• Footwear for on the water
• Sock that cover your ankles
• 50p for locker

These 2 days are a perfect introduction to sailing, to progress your sailing further we recommend joining your local sailing club to help consolidate what you have learnt and then join us for RYA Basic Skills (L2) for a further 2 days.
