This two days course provides plenty of opportunities for you to gain confidence and improve your experience in our J80 keelboats on the Menai Strait.

Over the two days we aim to cover the following:

This improver course seeks to bridge the gap between the Start Sailing, Basic Skills and the Advanced modules by offering an introduction to the different modules allowing sailors to select more easily their preferred route within the sport. Better Sailing allows for opportunity to practise and consolidate sailing techniques and experience some of the activities the advanced modules have to offer, helping to build confidence and support the development of good technique and independent sailing. Additional module options are non-compulsory for completion of the better sailing course but a keelboat course in our J80’s in the tidal Menai Strait lends itself to a fantastic experience in the Seamanship skills, Day Sailing and Spinnaker Sailing modules with of course racing if there is another boat to spa against!

 

Key learning points

Anchoring in various conditions, basic chart orientation, follow a pre planned route, effect of tide and wind on sailing conditions, basic intro to spinnaker handling as crew or helm including rig, hoist and drop.
