This two-day RYA Safety Boat course is a pre-requisite for the RYA Senior Instructor course and is useful for anybody wanting to assist as safety or rescue cover at their local sailing club.

This two-day RYA Safety Boat course is a pre-requisite for the RYA Senior Instructor course and is useful for anybody wanting to assist as safety or rescue cover at their local sailing club.
During the 2 days we aim to cover the following;
Over the course of the 2 days you will learn how to safely rescue and recover a variety of watercraft as well as how to set up and manage tows.
Key learning points:
Preparation, boat handling, dinghy rescue, windsurfer rescue, kayak or canoe rescue, towing, end of day procedures, safety, suitability of craft, local factors, communication, rescuing other water users.
Our friendly instructors will be with you every step of the way, offering clear instruction, guidance and encouragement
Plas Menai will provide all necessary personal protective clothing including waterproofs, buoyancy aids and helmets were required.
Please bring with you;
- Suitable warm clothing to wear
- The nature of the Safety Bot course means that participants should be prepared to get wet. Wetsuits will be provided, or alternatively you can bring your own.
- Hat, gloves, sun screen
- Wellies / shoes - that may get wet
- 50p for locker
