Can competently sail around a course in moderate conditions
Minimum Age
16 yrs
This 2 day course is aimed at improving your technical sailing ability and will be run in our double handed dinghies.
The emphasis of this course is on increasing the self-reliance and decision-making of the sailor, by spending time developing your boat handling and manoeuvring skills in a seamanlike manner.
Over the 2 days we aim to cover the following;
Launching and recovering the boat in different circumstances, stopping, reducing sail, recovering a man overboard, anchoring
Key learning points:
Coming alongside, man overboard recovery and reefing afloat.
Our friendly instructors will be with you every step of the way, offering clear instruction, guidance and encouragement.

Plas Menai will provide all necessary personal protective clothing including wetsuits, waterproofs, buoyancy aids and helmets.

- Footwear for on the water
- Sock that cover your ankles
- 50p for locker
This 2 days course will provide you with a solid foundation on which to develop your sailing independently. Once you feel confident in the skills you have learnt, consider the RYA Sailing with Spinnakers 2 day course, where you will have the opportunity to trail using an asymmetric spinnaker.
